These terms cover QuitShark, operated by Carbon Software Ltd, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Contact dev@mattjs.me. By using the app you agree to these terms, subject to your applicable consumer rights.

What QuitShark provides

QuitShark offers nicotine-quitting support, progress tracking, check-ins and mascot-based motivation. It is not a medical service or a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis or treatment. Outcomes are not guaranteed. Savings figures are estimates based on information you enter.

Your account

You can begin with an anonymous account. Sign in with Apple is an optional way to link and recover your journey. Without recovery linked, access to your existing progress may be lost if you change devices or remove local app data. Keep access to your linked Apple account secure and use the app lawfully.

Membership and existing users

As version 1.1 rolls out, new users may need a membership after onboarding to continue using the app. Users covered by the existing-user policy retain their existing free tier and its limits. The membership screen and store confirmation show the offer available to you; this policy does not promise free membership or unlimited access to every user.

Trials, offers and billing

Available plans, prices, currencies, billing periods and any introductory or exit offer are shown before purchase. A seven-day free trial is available on the eligible annual offer where shown; it is not available on every plan or to every store account. Unless cancelled in time, a trial converts to the displayed paid subscription and subscriptions renew automatically. Introductory discounts apply for the period shown; the disclosed renewal price applies afterwards. Coins, Friends or other virtual rewards are not cash and cannot be redeemed for money.

Purchases are billed by the app store. Manage or cancel your subscription through your store account, following its cancellation deadlines. For Apple trials, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends if you do not wish to renew. Deleting the app or your QuitShark account does not cancel the store subscription. Refund requests are handled under the store’s procedures and applicable law. Nothing here removes your statutory refund or consumer rights.

Progress and rewards

Daily rewards, coins, levels, Friend unlocks and customisation follow the rules presented in the app. We may change these systems as the app develops. Membership does not mean every Friend is immediately unlocked; some require earned coins or progress. Friend names may be checked for offensive content and renaming is limited by the app’s daily rules. Do not exploit bugs, automate reward claims or interfere with other accounts.

Your words and privacy

Your written promise can be saved as a personal reminder. The drawing used to sign it is not saved and is not a legal signature or contract. Our Privacy Policy explains account data, analytics, notifications and name moderation.

Content and acceptable use

The app, branding, artwork and software belong to Carbon Software Ltd or their licensors. You receive permission for personal use, not to resell or redistribute them. Do not gain unauthorised access, disrupt the service or misuse it. These restrictions do not override uses permitted by applicable law.

Availability and responsibility

We aim to keep the app available but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free service. Features depend on services including Convex, RevenueCat, Apple, Expo, PostHog and OpenAI. We may restrict accounts that abuse the service. Any limitation of our responsibility applies only to the extent permitted by law; nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights.

Ending use and changes

You can stop using QuitShark at any time, separately cancel subscriptions with the store, and request account deletion by contacting us. We may update these terms and will give notice where required. The date above identifies the latest revision.

Applicable law

These terms are governed by Northern Ireland law, without taking away mandatory protections or court access available to consumers where they live.
